  • Notes
    • This family had a real string of bad luck. Of 5 known children, only 1 survived to adulthood, and Caroline herself died 2 weeks after giving birth to their last child, Clara, at the age of 33. Only 1 child, Matilda survived, but she does not seem to have married, so there seems to be no possibility that there are any descendants of William and Caroline alive today.

There may be another child, as yet undiscovered (2005), between William and Matilda, since there is a gap of 3 years or more between these two, but there is no evidence to support the notion.

May 5, 1877, must have been a very difficult day for William and his only surviving child Matilda, when William's mother Susan, his son William, his daughter Caroline, all recently died, were buried along with the remains of William's wife Caroline, and their 2 infant daughters Mary Louisa and Clara, re-interred after having been moved (presumably) from Potter's Field.

    Married:
    • Caroline's sister Mary Hannah was one witness, along with Thomas (Fry ?). The spelling of the surname is difficult to decipher.
