James Mallett was born in 1870, in Wilmot Township, the first child of William Mallett and Elizabeth Lockhart. Ethel Nicholson was born in 1877 in Minto Township. She had a twin brother named Edgar. James took over the operation of his father's farm in Arthur Township after he and Ethel married. the above photos are their wedding pictures.

James and Ethel had a total of 9 children, 6 survivng till adulthood. The first child, a boy called James, was deadborn. Harry, William, and Lorna all died in infancy, of whooping cough. The second oldest, Clayton, was killed at the young age of 25 in a rifle accident. He left a wife and 4 small children.

James died in 1944, Ethel in 1946. They are both buried in the Palmerston Cemetery. Their son, James Eric, took over the operation of the family farm in Arthur Township after 1944, but sold it in the 1970s.
