  • Notes  Married:
    • No record of their marriage has been found, but the "Mallet-Hoblyn" tree says that he married "the daughter of Dr Woodward", and in the next generation we find many references to a "George Woodward Mallet" in the Plymouth area, which suggests that this person's mother carried the maiden name Woodward. We have a will for a George Mallett, Druggist, of Plymouth who leaves all of his property to his wife "Judith". There is no mention of any children in the will. The George who we know was christened in 1710 in Meavy, just north of Plymouth, was the correct age to be this George the druggist, and there was a seal on the will which appeared to be three escallops, with a hinds head, which sounds very much like the coat of arms of the Mallets of Ash (and Meavy). Finally we find a Judith Woodward christened in Yealmpton, Devon, just east of Plymouth in 1713, which is the correct age to be the wife of our George.
