    • They married by licence. William signed his name, Catherine made her mark. Witnesses were JW Hulke and Mary Dyer. JW Hulke was Catherine's brother in law.

      William's occupation was stated as "Hatter". In a later land transaction involving his father in Stoke Damerel, William was described as "Feltmaker". It is these trades that ties the William who married Catherine Chappel to the William born in Lanteglos by Camelford.
