- The register entry states that John MALLET senior (so not his son John born in Gidleigh) married Amy Shore by licence and he signed his name. It appears that he married Amy five years after Jane Cunnett died. When John himself died, Amy then married John's brother-in-law Richard Cunnett who was also a blacksmith. The register says that Richard Cunnett married Amy MALLET on this date, but there were no girls born with this name so it must be John's widow.
