    • This family was found in the 1881 UK census. Either the mother was dead or she was somewhere else during the census. There was a widow woman living in the houshold who may hold a clue as the identity of the mother, though she was listed as a housekeeper and not a mother in law: Charlotte Brock, aged 58.

      The name is spelled "Furse" not "Furze" in this case. But it must be the same person, how many people have the given names "Augustus" and "Mallett"? Humphrey spelled it "Furse" in his will.

      In the 1881 census, Augustus is described as a farmer of 200 acres employing 2 labourers and 2 boys. The farm is called "Launcells Barton". Launcells is close to the N Devon border.

    • The transcribers had trouble with Paulina's name - it is entered twice, once as Banbury and once as Bambury. A check of the 1891 census index indicates that Banbury occurs much more frequently than Bambury in Cornwall, and Banbury was transcribed from her birth registration, so Banbury was the variation chosen.

      They also apparently couldn't make out the last letter of her second given name, but her death and birth registrations show it to be "a", so her second given name has been recorded here as "Paulina".
