- When Thomas John Mallett was born in 1858, his mother's maiden name was recorded as "May". In 1861 "John" Mallett, being of the correct age and having been born in the correct place to be Thomas John was living with his grandfather Emanuel. This Marriage record clearly shows that the John Mallett who married Annie May was the son of Emanuel. No record has been found that directly links Thomas John to any parent other than a mother with the maiden name of May, but the birth record and the marriage record taken together are sufficient proof.
