- There are a great many William Turners in the civil indexes, so without the actual cert one cannot be absolutely certain that this is the correct individual, but:
1. We know that William died between 1891 and 1901 because he was listed in the 1891 census, but Alice was a widow in 1901,
2. This event was registered in Croydon where the family was living in 1891 and 1901,
3. The age at death is very close to what William's age would have been in 1897.
