- Lived in Hastings Coulee, Forestburg, on the homestead farm of Geo and Mary Mallett.
Carl played a hot trumpet.
The family "had moved onto the homestead at Forestburg from 1907 or 08 but Carl was born in Edmonton. Maybe my folks were having a tough time of it on the homsetead and perhaps Dad decided to take the family back to Edmonton and work at the new packing plant for the winter. I don't know as neither Mom or Dad ever talked about it. Now there is no one living who could inform me as to why Carl was born in Edmonton." --Note from Ivan Mallett in 2001
The family homestead/ farm at Hastings Coulee was sold not long after Carl died, having been in the family for more than 70 years.
