- In 1897 something happened that resulted in at least 5 of George and Alice's children being put either into an orphanage or "boarded out". The family doesn't appear to ever have been reunited. George and Alice haven't been found in any census after this date, but no obvious death records have been found for them either. When 4 of the children were baptised upon entering the orphanage, George and Alice were listed as parents, with no indication that either of them were dead.
