      Extract from 'The Straits Times,' 17 January, 1935: (Page 12) 'DEATH OF MR. HENRY COWLING. Funeral At Bidadari Yesterday. The funeral of Mr. Henry Cowling, one of the oldest European residents in Malaya, took place at the Bidadari Cemetery, Singapore, yesterday. In addition to the chief mourners—Mr. H. W. Cowling, Mrs. Langley-Fraser and Mrs. Jean Pearse—there were present at teh graveside: Dr. J. S. Sloper, Dr. H. T. Wee, and Messrs. M. P. Selfe, C. P. Burke, N. H. Taylor, R. C. Stewart, H. Fancott, A. E. Beavis, Graham Hutchison, H. E. Wright, V. A. Burton, Steen Sehested, J. B. Myles, W. N. Cullin, C. S. Ashbrook, H. M. Alexan- der, F. R. Stefani and T. S. Kung, as well as members of the office and drawing and store staffs of Gammon (Malaya) Ltd. The service was taken by the Ven. Archdeacon Graham White.'
