From 'The Royal Cornwall Gazette Falmouth Packet, Cornish Weekly News, & General Advertiser,' Tuesday, June 30, 1898 (Issue 4953):

-----Wedding at St. Agnes----- 'A very pretty wedding took place at the parish church, St. Agnes, on the 22nd inst., the contracting parties being Mr. Edward Cowling, fifth son of the late Mr. Isaac Cowling, of the Bank House, and Miss Evelyn Soloman, youngest daughter of Capt. James Soloman, of Foundry-hill. The ceremony took place at eleven o'clock, and a large congregation had assembled as the bride entered the church, and was conducted to the altar by her brother Mr. Albert Soloman. She was attired in a dress of white silk, with a picture hat and carried a shower bouquet, the gift of the bridegroom's mother. The bridesmaids were Miss Agnes Cowling (sister of the bridegroom), Miss Madge Cowling (niece of the bridegroom), Miss Evelyn Soloman (niece of the bride), who wore a dress of cream silk, and Miss Annie Gummow, and Miss Ethel Cowling (niece of the bridegroom), who wore shot silk dresses. The service was fully choral. As the bridal party entered the church the choir and congregation sang the hymn 'The voice that breathed o'er Eden,' and chanted the 68th Psalm. The Rev. P. Morgan officiated. At the conclusion of the service the 'Wedding March' was ably played by Mr. W. S. Hooper, of Blackwater, who also played earlier an Andante Pastorelle and a Wedding March by Birch. The church bells pealed out a merry peal. Both the bride and bridegroom were formerly choristers. The presents were numer- ous and costly. Mr. W. Cowling, junr., acted as 'best man.' During the afternoon the wedded couple left for the Lizard.'
