  Sarah was the first female Methodist Preacher. The Church of England did not allow females to be ordained, and neither did the Methodists, but John Wesley visited her in 1786 and declared that she had an "extraordinary call". With Wesley's support, she was issued a license to preach by the Manchester Conference in 1787. An account of her life as a Preacher can be found here: An Account of S[arah] Mallitt.
