    • Eliza came to Canada in 1874, apparently by herself, at the age of 28. She says she was born in Cornwall, England, and that her father was John Mallett. The only birth of an Eliza from Cornwall that has been found that fits was one whose birth was registered in the March quarter of 1848 in Liskeard, Cornwall. Her mother's maiden name was Tremberth, and she can be found in the 1861 census in Liskeard, living with her parents John and Eliza Mallett.
