- In the 1841 census Humphrey lived at "Putshole", still the name of a farm today. We were told that the house on the property is ancient, and has been recognized as such by a plaque which is on the wall. We did not go in. He employed 2 female servants and 5 Ag Labs. Mary, James, and Catherine were at home, and Caroline Bond is visiting. I assume she is the daughter of Richard Bond and Catherine Mallett.
In the 1851 census Humphrey lives at "East Browns", which is the name of a farm. We found a Bond family living there in 1997. They knew nothing of any Malletts or of Richard Bond. Humphrey was a farmer with 290 acres employing 4 Ag Labs.
Humphrey's age as stated in both censi is inconsistent with the age taken from the parish register and his tombstone.
Death dates for Henry and Grace are taken from tombstones in Langtree cemetery. The age on Humphrey's tombstone is consistent with the parish register. Birth dates for children are taken from the parish register.
