Name Thomas MALLETT Christening Between 18 Feb 1581 and 1582 Bodmin, Cornwall, England
Gender Male SW Group 6 UKC 1881 N Alternate Name Tho Mallett [1] Alternate Name Thomas Mallat Residence 1641 Liskeard, Cornwall, England
[2] - His name was recorded in the "Protestation Returns" of 1641 as "Thomas Sen"., because there was a younger Thomas who was recorded as "Thomas Jun." This might indicate a father son relationship, but doesn't necessarily. The only two Thomases that have been found that fit the bill were those born in Bodmin and St Erth respectively. As currently recorded this was an uncle/nephew relationship. There was also a Roger Mallett recorded in Liskeard in 1641, who was likely the brother of Thomas Jr., both born in St Erth.
This is the only Thomas of record who could have been in Liskeard at this time, and he has been connected to the marriage of Thomas and Margaret Pittin for the same reason.
It must be remembered that there appears to be close to a 100 year gap in the Liskeard parish records, at least as far as Mallett baptisms are concerned. The earliest recorded baptism that we have for Liskeard is 1731.

Family Margaret PITTIN, b. Est 1581 Marriage 7 Sep 1612 Liskeard, Cornwall, England
[3] - There is no other known Thomas that fits with this marriage date. His age of 31 is appropriate, and Liskeard is not far from Bodmin. These two may be the progenitors of the Malletts of Liskeard, of whom there are many, but there is perhaps a "Civil War Gap" in the records that does not allow us to make a direct connection.
