    • Living in Wadebridge, aged 77. This is a good fit. The birth year is correct and Wadebridge is very close to St Endellion.

    • In the Phillimore extract, John Mallett is described as "senr.", which, one assumes, was necessary to distinguish him from a younger John in the same parish, most likely his own son. This John had a son born 1740, and was from the same parish as the marriage, and so has been chosen as the husband of Susanna Grose, but, there was a John in the nearby parish of Lanteglos who was 26 in the year of this marriage who might have married Susanna. His mother's name was Grace, and the first child of John and Susanna was called Grace, so one might think that John of Lanteglos was the one to choose, but he does not fit the profile of "senr.", and there is no mention of the John in the marriage record as being from any parish other than Endellion.
