- Bruce was 35 years old when he signed on with the British Army in 1917. He stated that he had previous military experience, a 6 month stint in the the Royal Navy Canadian Volunteer Reserve (RNCVR), and gave his occupation as "Wheelsman", or "Sailor". | Note |
- I found a "James Floren Mallett" in the BC death indexes. He died Oct 14 1975 aged 87 in Kamloops. Registration Number is 1975-09-017276, BC Archives film number is B13347, and GSU Microfilm number is 2050529. The age isn't exactly right but it's pretty close, and there aren't many people with the name "Floren", which is pretty close to "Florian". There are currently no Malletts in Kamloops, but there was one in 1995/96.
James' grave in Kamloops is in the military section, his wife Ruth is in another section.
