| Name |
Benjamin MALLETT [1, 2] |
| Birth |
Abt 1675 [3] |
- It is not known when or where Benjamin was born. The only family living in the area prior to 1700 were living in Hittisleigh where some Malletts were recorded in the parish registers between 1679 and 1704. Unfortunately, the registers recording events in Hittisleigh prior to 1676 have been lost or destroyed. A few Bishops Transcripts have survived but only as fragments of fire damaged books, so it is impossible to determine how long the Malletts may have been there.
Because Benjamin of Hittisleigh and James of Spreyton (c. 1678) lived in neighbouring parishes at the same time, it is reasonable to assume that they may have been brothers.
