Joane HOLE
1719 --
Name Joane HOLE [1, 2] Birth 29 Apr 1719 South Tawton, Devon, England Gender Female Note - Joan's family, the Holes, were a well known and moderately wealthy family in the area. Several were landowners, farmers and clerics; particularly those in North Tawton, whose history is well documented. Less is known about their cousins in South Tawton, but the presence of the tombstone of a Thomas Hole laid in the floor at St. James's Church (who died in 1660) indicates that at the very least they were of yeoman status. Very little is known though about Joan herself. Joan's name was spelt 'Joane' in the parish register.
