Edward Baldwin Malet, 1864
Taken by William Notman, Montreal, Canada, when Edward was about 27 years old. It is thought that Edward was visiting his brother Henry, a Colonel in the Grenadier Guards, when they were posted to Montreal from 1862-1864. During this same time period Edward was attached to the British Legation in Washington, and was likely able to make the trip from Washington to Montreal entirely by train, though it would have required several connections.
