Father Hugh MALLETT, c. 15 Nov 1681, Ash, Iddesleigh, Devon, England
d. Bef 16 Apr 1740, Exeter, Devon, England
(Age ~ 58 years) Mother Mary GLANVILLE, b. Est 1681 d. Bef 19 Aug 1752, Exeter, Devon, England
(Age ~ 71 years) Marriage 8 Nov 1710 St Peter Cathedral, Exeter, Devon, England
[1, 4] - It is not certain that Hugh Mallett, Grocer, of Exeter is the same Hugh Mallett that married Mary Glanville, or the Hugh Mallett born in Iddesleigh in 1681, but the age fits, and Hugh the Grocer's wife's name was indeed Mary. One might expect also that the second son of a gentleman, as Hugh was, might be apprenticed to a tradesman so that he could earn a respectable living, since he would not inherit his father's estate, and Saint Peter Cathedral would be an appropriate venue for the marriage of a gentleman's son.
However, Hugh, when referring to his children in his will, mentions that their grandmother's name was Mary Talbott, so one might suppose that Hugh's wife was also Mary Talbott and not Mary Glanville - but Hugh or Mary's mother might have remarried, and Mary could have been born Talbott but married someone called Glanville before she married Hugh...

Family Sibella VICARY, b. Est 1711 d. Bef 27 Jun 1768 (Age ~ 57 years) Marriage 19 Feb 1735 St Petrock, Exeter, Devon, England
[1, 5] - It is assumed that this Hugh is the son of Hugh born 1681 because Hugh Jr. is mentioned in Hugh Sr.'s will; he married a Vicary and Hugh Sr was an apprentice of Anthothy Vicary, Grocer on Apr 24 1704; and Hugh Jr. is listed as an apprentice to Hugh Sr., Grocer, on Nov. 4, 1734. Hugh Sr.'s will (July 10, 1740) mentions "him and his wife" in reference to Hugh Jr, so this marriage date fits, and according to the marriage record Hugh was from Saint Mary Arches, where his sisters Elizabeth and Jane were also married.
