- Of Burgate House. This is the first mention of Burgate where my Great Grandfather, John Coventry lived and of which my mother always speaks very fondly.
There were other children but I am not sure whether all those recoded here are in the right generation.

I've tidied the children up and moved relevant ones to his son John

On Christmas Day 1866 the Lodge of Burgate House, belonging to Mr. J. Coventry, was destroyed. The fire engine was present but due to the ferocity of the blaze it proved useless in its attempts to extinguish it.
